M. Night Shyamalan Is Taking Over Beyond Fest With Massive 12-Film Retrospective
M. Night Shyamalan is coming to Beyond Fest 2026 — and he’s bringing nearly three decades of movies with him.
Beyond Fest has announced “Night Visions: The Shock and Awe of M. Night Shyamalan,” a massive 12-feature retrospective celebrating the filmmaker behind The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable, Split, Trap and more.
Spanning 27 years of Shyamalan’s career, the retrospective marks the first West Coast retrospective of his work with Shyamalan himself in attendance.
Even better: this isn’t just a chance to revisit some of his biggest films on the big screen. Shyamalan will appear in person across four specially curated programming blocks, featuring conversations about his films and the ideas and creative decisions behind them.

The Eastrail 177 Trilogy Returns to the Big Screen
The festivities kick off at the Egyptian Theatre on Sunday, September 27 at 11 AM with an epic marathon of Shyamalan’s entire Eastrail 177 trilogy: Unbreakable, Split and Glass.
The three-film saga took nearly two decades to complete and offered Shyamalan’s unconventional take on superheroes long before the genre became the dominant force it is today. The marathon will be followed by a post-screening Q&A with Shyamalan.
Later that night, things get apocalyptic.

Signs + Knock at the Cabin
At 7 PM on September 27, Beyond Fest will pair Signs with Knock at the Cabin for “The End of the World Is Nigh(t).”
The double feature brings together two very different Shyamalan stories centered around families facing potentially world-ending threats, with a Q&A between the films.

The Visit + Trap
On Monday, September 28 at 7 PM, paranoia takes over the Egyptian Theatre with a double feature of The Visit and Trap.
Dubbed “The Power of Paranoia,” the pairing brings together two thrillers that transform seemingly familiar environments — a family visit and a pop concert — into increasingly dangerous traps. Shyamalan will once again participate in a Q&A between the films.

The Sixth Sense Gets the Spotlight
And you really can’t celebrate M. Night Shyamalan without the movie that changed everything.
On Tuesday, September 29 at 7 PM, Beyond Fest will screen The Sixth Sense as part of “I See (More) Dead People.”
Shyamalan will personally introduce the film and participate in a post-screening Q&A, giving fans the chance to revisit one of the most iconic supernatural thrillers ever made with the filmmaker himself in the room.
And There’s Even More Shyamalan
The retrospective will extend beyond the Egyptian Theatre with additional screenings at the Los Feliz 3 of:
- The Village
- Old
- Lady in the Water
Together, the full retrospective spans 12 films and 27 years of Shyamalan’s career, from The Sixth Sense in 1999 through Trap in 2024.
As someone who loves seeing filmmakers’ work celebrated on the big screen, this is exactly the kind of programming that makes Beyond Fest so special. Getting Unbreakable, Split and Glass together is already exciting, but experiencing these films with M. Night Shyamalan actually there to discuss them takes this retrospective to another level.
Tickets for the retrospective go on sale Thursday, September 3 at 12 PM PT through the American Cinematheque.
